21st February 2014 I marched along with the LGBTQ community on the Cape Town streets for Gay Pride. The date was poignant and the passions were high, as a few days later on the 24th February another African country, Uganda, passed the Anti-Homosexuality Act sentencing anyone found to be gay to life imprisonment. There are gay pride parades all over the world, but none I think could compare to the deep emotion felt by all at Cape Town Pride at the fate of their African brothers and sisters. We marched for them: for those who could not march.
